Christmas Holly Doodles

If you love Snickerdoodles, you will love the festive spin off this delicious classic cookie. These were one of my favorite Christmas cookies growing up. My mom would have the refrigerator stacked with Christmas tins of varying cookies during the holidays. It took me opening every tin to finally find my favorites. I hope you will like these as much as I do.

Christmas Holly Doodles
((Printable Recipe))

1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 cups flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons cinnamon
2-3 tablespoons red sugar
2-3 tablespoons green sugar

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

2. In a medium sized bowl, whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.

3. In a mixing bowl, beat together the butter, sugar, and eggs.  Mix in the dry ingredients just until incorporated.

4. Shape the dough into 1-inch balls.  Roll in colored sugar.  Bake for 8 minutes.

5. Allow the cookies to cool on the cookie sheet pan and then remove to a cooling rack to finish cooling.
