(Not Quite Wordless) Wednesday: Now is Now

"The great, dark trees of the Big Woods stood all around the house,
and beyond them were other trees and beyond them were more trees."
 ~Laura Ingalls Wilder

"She was glad that the cosy house, and Pa and Ma and the firelight and the music, were now. They could not be forgotten, she thought, because now is now. It can never be a long time ago."
~Laura Ingalls Wilder

Over the past few years I have been reading The Little House on the Prairie series to my three children. Our last book was finished a few weeks ago.  I am sad to see it end but the kids are ready and waiting to reread them. My memories of them snuggled with me on the couch while reading "Laura" will be cherished.  I can only hope that they also remain vivid.  As Laura says, now is now. It can never be a long time ago.

  1. Love those books! Luckily as a third grade teacher I get to enjoy them now and again still. Beautiful pictures.

  2. I love her books so much. I read them multiple times when I was a kid and then I read them all out loud to my boys. I always remind them how happy Laura and Mary were to get their very own tin cup and a whole penny for Christmas!
