Elvis and Sideburns

I told my shaggy blonde-haired boy that I needed to trim his sideburns.

He screamed:

"NO! I WANT TO LOOK LIKE ELVIS!"

I gently informed him that nobody would think he looked like Elvis, they would just think his sideburns looked weird.

He informed me:

"Nobody thought Elvis's sideburns were weird!"

If anyone has any hints on how to rationalize with a 9 year old boy... I'm all ears!

Perhaps this photo will help?

  1. Let him have his side burns! Let him wear them until Halloween. :))

  2. Hahaha... great idea Kate! A Little shoe polish to turn his hair black and we'll be all set! :)

  3. A friend of mine decided to go with her son's desire for long hair. He loved it until a stranger said "Good Morning, Ladies." in passing. That evening, he had it cut. :-)

Interestingly enough, my daughter seemed please when a waitress asked her "What may I get you you, son?" I wonder if Mr. Sideburns now has longer hair than my daughter? My latest blog has a picture of her new 'do.'

  4. Giving in works for me most of the time. The kids will either think it's cool or they will make some comment to make him redo his sideburns.
