The other thing you could do to save time in the morning would be to mix all of step 2 and set it aside the night before. With step #3, mix in the butter (you can pulse the dry ingredients and butter in a food processor as well. )Stop when you have coarse crumbs. Leave this aside overnight. In the morning, add the buttermilk and finish off the bread as your oven is preheating.
